Can’t Find STM32-DVM / mmdvm_HS-Raspberry-PiHat (GPIO) in Latest WPSD? Official Compatibility List & Setup Guide

Many amateur radio operators using MMDVM hotspots have reported the same issue recently: after upgrading to the latest WPSD release, the familiar modem option STM32-DVM / mmdvm_HS-Raspberry-PiHat (GPIO) is no longer available in the dropdown menu. Users are left confused about which option to select, and worried that their hotspot boards are no longer compatible.

ZUMSpot GPIO and USB MMDVM Boards, plus MMDVM-Pi Repeater Boards
DVMega (Netherlands version, not UK) boards and hotspot devices
LoneStar N5BOC GPIO and USB MMDVM Boards
BridgeCom Systems SkyBridge Hotspots 
BI7JTA MMDVM Boards 
Repeater Builder STM32-DVM Boards

All the models listed above have corresponding entries in the latest WPSD modem selection menu.

How to Select the Correct Modem

Most standard hotspot devices use the MMDVM_HS_Hat modem, while duplex hotspot units use the MMDVM_HS_Dual_Hat GPIO modem (originally designed by DF2ET and DB9MAT).
To verify your exact modem model, you can run the following detection command via SSH: sudo wpsd-detectmodem
